In a media release sent out by Paul Toole, Minister for Local Government on 26 February 2015, it was advised that “pool owners will be granted a 12-month extension to make sure they have a valid compliance certificate before the property can be sold or leased.”
This means that if you are selling or leasing your property you do not need to attach a Swimming Pool Compliance Certificate to the Contract for Sale of Land until 29 April 2016.
The extension until 29 April 2016 ensures
Councils will continue to run risk-based inspection programs, including compulsory three-yearly inspections for strata units, tourist and visitor accommodation, to improve compliance rates and child safety around backyard pools.
More certifier courses available to ensure that the high standard of inspections is maintained;
Increased numbers of qualified private certifiers to conduct inspections;
Homeowners and landlords wishing to make pools compliant but experiencing a wait for a contractor will have sufficient time
